Google has launched a new feature called SGE Experiment Folders to help users organize and track their interactions with Search Generative Experience (SGE). This tool allows people to save and revisit past searches, follow-up questions, and AI-generated responses in one place. The goal is to make it easier for users to manage complex research tasks over time.

The folders automatically capture each step of a user’s search journey. When someone asks a question and then refines it based on the answer, the system logs both the original query and the follow-up. This creates a clear timeline of how the user’s thinking evolved during the session. Users can name folders, add notes, or delete entries as needed.

Google says this feature supports deeper exploration without losing context. It is especially useful for students, researchers, or anyone working on multi-step projects. Instead of starting over each time, users can pick up where they left off. The company also believes this will improve trust by giving people more control over their data.

The tracking works only when users are signed in and have opted into SGE. Google states that all data stays private and is not used to target ads. Users can turn off the feature or delete their folders at any time through their account settings.

Early testing shows that people using Experiment Folders spend more time exploring topics and ask more detailed questions. Google plans to expand access to the feature in the coming weeks as part of its ongoing SGE pilot. The company continues to gather feedback to refine how search journeys are saved and displayed.
